Example of a Sustainability Unit.

The unit I am sharing here was developed while in graduate school at American College of Education this past year. I created this differentiated and interdisciplinary unit with my students’ interest in mind and our responsibility to our Earth. It is important to involve everyone, especially the younger generations in the effort to protect our amazing environment. This unit will cover the plants and animals that impact it, the importance of the Three R’s, and the overall effects and solutions of water pollution. Phillips (2019) once said, to encourage sincere concern for our environment by introducing sustainable habits early on, can warrant the support we are providing to our students as they become more aware of our environmental issues and become stewards of our land. Learning to care for our environment and the interconnectedness we have amongst each other, supports our students in developing their empathy, kindness, respect, compassion, and gratitude.
